Born with a fragile lifespan, Asher, a young snake demon, disguises himself with artificial dragon horns and sneaks into the Dragon Clan Academy in hopes of escaping his fate before turning twenty-two. His survival plan takes an unexpected turn when he manages to form a lifelong bond with Kyle, the Dragon Prince, and even becomes pregnant with his child. But Asher's happiness is shattered when he learns that Kyle has an arranged fiancé approved by the Dragon Council and has repeatedly declared his hatred for snakes. Fearing rejection and the consequences of revealing his true identity, Asher secretly hides his pregnancy and disappears without a trace.

When the Dragon Clan launches a search for him, Kyle begins uncovering the truth about their relationship and realizes that his feelings for Asher run far deeper than he ever imagined. Determined to reunite with his mate and unborn child, Kyle defies the council and challenges the traditions of his clan. Eventually, he finds Asher and embraces him for who he truly is, standing against the Dragon Clan's hostility to protect the family and love they have built together.
